London's Mei Ume Welcomes the Year of the Dragon with Exquisite Festivities
This February, the prestigious Mei Ume restaurant at Four Seasons Hotel London at Ten Trinity Square announces a vibrant celebration to welcome the Year of the Dragon. From February 5th to 24th, 2024, guests can indulge in a rich banquet and a series of cultural events in honor of the Chinese New Year.
The celebration begins with the Yu Sheng ritual, a traditional Prosperity Toss Salad, where guests engage in tossing the tangy salad with chopsticks, symbolizing increased fortune with each toss's height. Following this lively start, Chef Peter Ho presents a feast that pays homage to the Chinese New Year reunion dinner. The menu includes luxurious dishes like slow-cooked Australian abalone, eight-treasures duck, and steamed jumbo king prawns, culminating in the Tang Hulu dessert, a sweet and sour delight symbolizing happiness for the coming year.
For those seeking a private gathering, The Chairman’s Room in Mei Ume offers an exclusive dining experience. This secluded area, partitioned by elegant bamboo screens, accommodates up to 12 guests, providing a perfect setting for shared celebrations.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, Mei Ume will host live cultural performances on February 10 and 17. These include a captivating Chinese Lion Dance and authentic Chinese dance performances, showcasing costumes inspired by traditional Miao and vibrant red QiPao styles, and incorporating Chinese fans, umbrellas, and Yao long drums.
To extend the festive spirit, Mei Ume introduces the Year of the Dragon Fortune Boxes, ideal for sharing prosperity and luck wishes. These beautifully crafted boxes come with a selection of sweet or premium fillings, featuring Chinese pastries, rice cake, and abalone – a thoughtful gift for the season.
This unique dining experience at Mei Ume, priced at GBP 228 per person, is a blend of culinary excellence and cultural richness, offering an immersive way to celebrate the Year of the Dragon. Reservations can be made online or via email, ensuring a spot in this much-anticipated event.
