London is launching the Superloop for convenient and fast travel
London has opened a new Superloop network, providing faster express services for residents and visitors. The Superloop comprises a system of 10 rapid bus routes encircling London.
The completed network offers direct connections to city centers, medical facilities, educational institutions, and major transportation hubs. The city government pledges to enhance London's bus infrastructure in the outskirts following the expansion of the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) across the city, as reported by The Sun.
The last three Transport for London routes were inaugurated in March 2024, finalizing the 138-kilometer ring network spanning the city's suburbs.
The latest additions to the network include SL2, linking Walthamstow and North Woolwich, SL3, connecting Thamesmead and Bromley North, and SL5, connecting Bromley North to Croydon town center.
The launch of the final Superloop route, SL4, is slated for 2025, coinciding with the opening of the Silvertown Tunnel.
According to the Mayor of London, the Superloop represents a revolutionary new express bus network that has added over six million additional bus kilometers to the capital's bus network, linking stations, city centers, hospitals, and transport hubs.
Specifically, the new system provides Londoners with alternatives to private car usage, contributing to the development of a better, greener London for all.
Superloop buses will pass through Friern Barnet, New Southgate, Arnos Grove, Palmers Green, and Silver Street stations, with stops at 13 locations in each direction.
