Japan Airlines Introduces a Game-Changer App for Myoko Visitors
In an innovative push to enhance the travel experience for its international visitors, Japan Airlines (JAL), in conjunction with NRI Digital, Inc. and Myoko Tourism Management, has unveiled the "JAL MaaS" demonstration app. This service promises to provide tailored information on public transport and attractions in Myoko City, Niigata Prefecture, directly to the smartphones of foreign travelers.
Starting on February 22, 2024, and running until March 31, 2024, the demonstration targets primarily Australian visitors – who make up about 80% of Myoko's international tourism. The app's deployment is a proactive response to the hurdles these travelers often face, such as language barriers and difficulty in accessing current tourist information.
One of the app's core features is its accessibility. By leveraging Progressive Web Apps (PWA) technology, the "JAL MaaS" app bypasses the need for traditional app store downloads, offering travelers a hassle-free method to access a wealth of multilingual travel data via web browsers.
Myoko's commitment to digitalization and traveler convenience shines through this initiative. The city has already been implementing digital strategies, including the use of accommodation data and IC card systems at ski resorts. With the "JAL MaaS" app, visitors can now pre-register their travel itineraries and receive high-resolution, location-specific information as they move closer to their destination.
JAL's strategy extends beyond the app itself; the airline leverages its unique position to engage with travelers from the moment they leave their home country, ensuring a smooth journey all the way to Myoko Kogen. This service demonstration is free and available in English and Japanese, enhancing its reach.
The "JAL MaaS" app is not just a tool; it's a commitment to a seamless and stress-free travel experience. It reflects JAL's broader vision of connecting various transportation models and regional efforts to provide an unrivaled convenience for air travelers. With this pilot run, JAL is poised to refine and expand these services, continually enriching the travel experience for its international clientele.
