JAL Marks 70th Anniversary with Exclusive "Moriizo" Shochu on International Flights
Japan Airlines (JAL) is celebrating its 70th anniversary of international flights by offering a limited-time sale of "Moriizo," a premium shochu, on select international routes. The sale, which began on April 1, 2024, is available to passengers in First Class, Business Class, and, for a limited time, Premium Economy Class.
Shochu is a traditional Japanese distilled spirit made from rice or sweet potatoes, and "Moriizo" is known for its smooth taste and slightly sweet flavor. Produced in Tarumizu City, Kagoshima Prefecture, it is a rare and sought-after shochu, often available only in select markets. JAL has been offering "Moriizo" on international flights for over 25 years, typically limited to First Class and Business Class passengers.
The special sale to mark the airline's anniversary allows Premium Economy Class passengers on specific routes to purchase "Moriizo" from April to May 2024. JAL's decision to extend this exclusive offering to more passengers is part of the airline's efforts to commemorate its milestone with a unique in-flight experience.
The sale covers a variety of international routes, including flights to North America, Europe, and Southeast Asia. The airline has warned that availability may vary based on aircraft changes and other factors, and sales will end once stock runs out. Passengers under the age of 20 will not be able to purchase alcoholic beverages.
JAL's offering of "Moriizo" provides a unique opportunity for passengers to experience a world-class Japanese product during their flight. The airline's initiative aims to enhance the in-flight experience and contribute to a memorable journey for its international travelers.
