ITA Airways Expands Its Wings to Buenos Aires: New Frequencies and Enhanced Codeshare Agreement
ITA Airways is set to increase its presence in the South American skies by adding two more weekly flights to Buenos Aires, Argentina, starting from June 2024. This expansion will see the Italian carrier offering a total of nine weekly frequencies between Rome Fiumicino and Buenos Aires, marking a significant upsurge in its operations to the Argentine capital. The decision comes on the heels of recording impressive load factors on the Rome Fiumicino - Buenos Aires route in 2023, showcasing the route's popularity and success.
The airline's commitment to bolstering its network in South America is further illustrated by its announcement of up to 30 weekly round-trip flights to the continent during the peak of the 2024 summer season. This move not only highlights South America's strategic importance for business and cargo traffic but also acknowledges its status as a favored holiday spot for Italians and a home for millions of people of Italian descent. ITA Airways has become the go-to airline for Italian expatriates and locals in Argentina and Brazil, providing a slice of home from the moment passengers board the aircraft.
Beyond Buenos Aires, ITA Airways maintains a robust schedule with up to 14 weekly flights to Sao Paulo and 7 to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil's bustling metropolises. To solidify its foothold in the region, the airline has also enhanced its codeshare agreement with Aerolíneas Argentinas. This partnership now includes nonstop flights between Rome Fiumicino and Buenos Aires Ezeiza International Airport, offering passengers seamless travel experiences with integrated ticketing and baggage handling from start to finish.
The collaboration extends to a broad network of destinations, with ITA Airways applying its "AZ" code on flights from Rome to Buenos Aires and 32 domestic destinations across Argentina, along with 6 other South American countries. Conversely, Aerolíneas Argentinas will place its "AR" code on ITA Airways flights between Buenos Aires and Rome, and onwards to 13 Italian cities and 7 international destinations.
This expansion and partnership enhancement come as ITA Airways celebrates over two years of operation, boasting 34 codeshare agreements. The strategic move not only reinforces ITA Airways' commitment to connecting cultures and economies but also positions it as a key player in the competitive landscape of international air travel. For travelers, this translates to more options, convenience, and opportunities to explore or reconnect with their roots, making ITA Airways a bridge between Italy and the vibrant lands of South America.
