ITA Airways Expands Horizons at BIT Milan with Exciting Summer 2024 Offerings
ITA Airways has marked its second consecutive participation at the Borsa Internazionale del Turismo (BIT) in Milan, showcasing its extensive network for the 2024 Summer Season. The airline has unveiled plans to operate 56 destinations, comprising 16 domestic, 26 international, and 14 intercontinental routes, signaling a robust expansion in its service offerings.
At the BIT, held from February 4th to 6th, ITA Airways' presence was a testament to its brand strategy and Italian heritage, with a booth designed around the iconic arch, symbolizing both a gateway to the world and a nod to Italy's rich cultural past. The stand, a blend of innovation and tradition, offered insights into ITA Airways' Volare loyalty program, which is on track to reach 2 million members by mid-2024.
Emiliana Limosani, Chief Commercial Officer of ITA Airways and CEO of Volare, highlighted the airline's achievement of carrying 15 million passengers in 2023, a nearly 50% increase from the previous year. With an exceptional regularity index and an average load factor that surpasses its predecessors, ITA Airways is set for significant growth in 2024. This growth is underpinned by a 43% increase in long-haul offerings, including new direct flights from Rome Fiumicino to Chicago, Toronto, and destinations in Africa and the Middle East.
The upcoming summer season will see ITA Airways expanding its reach with 10 seasonal destinations, enhancing connectivity to popular Mediterranean spots. New routes from Rome Fiumicino will connect travelers to cities like Chicago, Toronto, Riyad, Accra, Kuwait City, and Jeddah, further broadening ITA Airways' global footprint.
The airline's commitment to fleet renewal and environmental sustainability is evident in its selection of aircraft for these routes, including the Airbus A330neo and A321neo, known for their efficiency and reduced carbon footprint.
ITA Airways' strategic moves in the cargo sector are equally noteworthy, with a projected 30% growth in freight for 2024, supported by the expansion of its intercontinental network and the addition of cargo-critical destinations.
As ITA Airways gears up for a bustling summer, its offerings not only cater to the leisure traveler but also to the business and cargo sectors, reinforcing its position as a key player in the international aviation market. The airline's participation in BIT Milan is a clear indicator of its commitment to enhancing connectivity, embracing sustainability, and promoting Italian excellence on the global stage.
