Iberia and Iberia Express Crowned Europe's Most Punctual Airlines in 2023
In a significant achievement within the European aviation sector, Iberia and its subsidiary, Iberia Express, have been recognized as the most punctual airlines in Europe for the year 2023. The global aviation analysis consultancy, Cirium, revealed these findings in its annual On-Time Performance Report, highlighting the airlines' commitment to timely service amidst the complexities of modern air travel.
Iberia Express leads the charge with a remarkable 84.58% of its flights landing on schedule, securing not only the top position in Europe but also ranking fifth among the world's most punctual low-cost carriers. Close behind, Iberia clinched the second spot in Europe and fifth globally, with 84.38% of its 170,750 flights arriving on time. These statistics underscore the airlines' dedication to operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Fernando Candela, President of Iberia, and Carlos Gómez, CEO of Iberia Express, both emphasized the importance of punctuality as a fundamental aspect of their service promise to customers. They credited the achievement to the concerted efforts of their teams, who strive to ensure that the airlines meet the highest standards of punctuality and quality consistently.
This recognition is not new for the Iberia Group, which has a history of punctuality leadership. Iberia has been among the top ten most punctual airlines worldwide for eight consecutive years. Since its launch in March 2012, Iberia Express has maintained high operational excellence standards, leading to its recognition as the most punctual low-cost airline globally for five years in a row, from 2014 to 2018, and the most punctual in Europe in 2019, 2022, and 2023.
