IATA Champions Diversity and Inclusion in Aviation with 2024 Awards
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has announced the call for nominations for its 2024 Diversity and Inclusion Awards, with the deadline set for April 17, 2024. These prestigious awards, now in their fifth edition, aim to celebrate significant contributions to diversity and inclusion across three categories within the aviation sector. The categories include the Inspirational Role Model Award for senior women leaders, the High Flyer Award for exceptional female professionals under 40, and the Diversity & Inclusion Team Award for IATA member airlines demonstrating measurable advances in their diversity and inclusion efforts.
Willie Walsh, IATA’s Director General, emphasized the aviation industry's innovative spirit in enhancing gender balance and diversity. He encouraged professionals to nominate peers who are actively contributing to these areas, anticipating a competitive selection process by the judges. Winners will be honored at the IATA Annual General Meeting and World Air Transport Summit in Dubai this June.
Supported by Qatar Airways, each award comes with a $25,000 prize, underscoring the commitment to promoting a diverse and inclusive aviation industry. These efforts are not just about recognition but also about integrating diversity and inclusion into the core business strategy, highlighting its importance in the industry's future. The awards, judged by an independent panel including industry leaders and past recipients, reflect the global aviation community's dedication to fostering an inclusive work environment.
