Hampshire demands closure of glamping due to loud sex sounds and karaoke
Secret Garden Glamping in Leamington, Hampshire, has been ordered to close after neighbors complained about late-night parties, noisy sex, and loud karaoke sessions that included "misleading" versions of Islands in the Stream.
Planning officers ruled that the glamping venue in the garden, which is located next to other properties, caused a harmful level of disturbance to neighbors, The Guardian reports.
Liz Feay, owner of Secret Garden Glamping, set up two tents called Flora and Belle in the garden of her three-bedroom home without planning permission. Visitors who came were amazed, with one describing it as "a little gem in the heart of Leamington".
Four years later, she applied for retrospective planning permission from New Forest District Council, but neighbors raised concerns about the site.
The council rejected Fay's planning application. The officer who considered the appeal said: "The area where the tents were located is in a part of the garden close to neighboring residential properties. The tents are only made of thin tarpaulin material and therefore have no sound insulation."
As TravelWise wrote, glamping, derived from the words "camping" and "glamor," has recently become increasingly popular. Its peculiarity is comfortable outdoor living, which cannot be provided by a regular tourist trip.
