Gatwick announced an increase in the tariff for passenger disembarkation and explained the reason
London Gatwick Airport (LGW) has voted to increase the tariff for disembarking passengers in the front yard of the terminal. Previously, it cost £5, and now you will have to pay £6.
The announcement was made on the airport's official X account, formerly known as Twitter. Payment can be made online, by phone, or by setting up an AutoPay account.
"You can still park your car for free in the parking lots for longer stays," the message reads, which many people did not like.
The airport was asked to explain the reasons for the 20% price increase.
"We believe that the fee increase will help reduce congestion, allow us to re-invest in sustainable transportation, and encourage more passengers and staff to use public transportation to get to the airport," LGW explained.
However, the comments also noted that there is no congestion near the airport, so the rationale seemed implausible to them.
