From a family bistro to the best restaurant in the Middle East: what is interesting about Orfali Bros Bistro
Mohamad Orfali, along with his two younger brothers, has been running Orfali Bros Bistro in Dubai since 2021. This restaurant preserves the traditions and the brothers' love for their Syrian roots, demonstrating a perfect combination of modern Arabic and Mediterranean flavors.
This restaurant has been recognized as one of the 50 Best Restaurants in the Middle East and North Africa for the second year in a row, and it is also ranked among the 50 Best Restaurants in the World in 2023 with the Bib Gourmand award from the Michelin Guide. What makes this restaurant so iconic and iconic, CNN Travel told us.
According to Orfali, he left Syria in 2006 and moved to Dubai with his brothers a year later. He says that they now have a multicultural team of 53 people working with them, all of whom have become a real family to the brothers.
Orafi says that their restaurant specializes in "Dubai cuisine," which adapts world culinary traditions to allow everyone to enjoy this cuisine, regardless of their background. However, he emphasizes that their menu is not "interethnic cuisine" that kills identity, and each dish is prepared using traditional ingredients "processed in a different way."
Thus, guests of Orfali Bros Bistro can taste the "Guess What?" dish, which combines Lebanese fattoush salad, Greek salad and gazpacho (cold Spanish soup). Or "shish-barak a la gyoza," which is an Asian version of a traditional Levantine meat dumpling drizzled with sujuk oil.
"We build relationships between us and our guests, and we make them family-like. It's not about running a family business - people who come to us feel at home, like they're part of a family," says Orfali.
