Forecasters warned that a sharp cold snap, snow and strong winds are coming to the UK
The Arctic blast will lead to a significant drop in temperature in the UK, which is expected to continue over the coming days. Some regions of the country may also face strong winds.
On Tuesday, a 280-mile-long band of snow may fall over Scotland and northern England, The Mirror reports. According to the forecast, the snowfall will begin on the northern tip of the British Isles and move south of the Yorkshire Dales at 3 am on Tuesday.
Temperatures across the country are set to drop to freezing or below later today. In London and the surrounding counties, temperatures are forecast to drop to -2 degrees, in sharp contrast to the warmth of last week.
It's worth noting that the accuracy of snowfall forecasts can be unstable when it comes to weather two days and beyond.
Beyond that, the UK may also be affected by other weather this week, as a yellow wind warning is expected for Shetland and Orkney on Sunday.
InMeteo forecasts show that February 6 will see heavy snowfall, with temperatures dropping to -8°C again in some regions, especially in the highlands of Cheshire, Derbyshire and South Yorkshire.
The heaviest snow is forecast to fall in the north of England and the Midlands on February 6.
