Fashion travel 2024: where designers and stylists will look for inspiration in the new year
Despite the fact that winter is in full swing, many people are already planning summer vacations to the hottest destinations. It's no secret that popular designers and stylists set the trend for the most popular seasonal vacation destinations.
Famous designer and founder of LaQuan Smith LaQuan Smith said that in 2024 he is looking forward to a trip to Mumbai to immerse himself in the rich culture and see firsthand the complex embroidery process he uses in his collections, Elle writes.
The founder of Super Smalls, Maria Duenas Jacobs, shared her expectations that the year should be a time of great travel. Her family is planning a trip to Madrid so that the children can practice their Spanish and meet their extended family, with whom they have not yet had the opportunity to communicate. They also plan to go to an Atletico Madrid soccer match, as there is little that can compare to the energy of a Liga I match.
Zimmermann co-founder and creative director Niki Zimmermann shared her plans to visit the Saint Barthelemy Islands. "The attention to detail in Indian fashion is unparalleled. The hand embroidery you find there takes years to perfect," she explains.
La DoubleJ founder J. J. Martin says that after Milan Fashion Week, she planned a trip to Mustique, a small private island in the country of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. "The island's wildlife looks really powerful, so I plan to immerse myself not only in the water but also in the beautiful gardens and greenery," she says.
Carla Welch, stylist, creative director and co-founder of The Period Company, admits that the only place she wants to go is Dog Island in British Columbia, Canada. "We travel with our son and the dogs, and then spend the summer there as a family, swimming, eating, playing games - it's paradise," she recalls.
