Etihad Airways Unveils New Destination Al Qassim, Boosting Middle East Connectivity
Etihad Airways, the flag carrier of the United Arab Emirates, has broadened its wings by introducing Al Qassim, Saudi Arabia, as its latest destination, marking a significant expansion in the Middle East. This strategic move brings the airline's total number of Saudi gateways to four, enhancing regional connectivity.
Starting from 24 June 2024, Etihad will operate four weekly flights directly connecting Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International Airport with Al Qassim’s Prince Naif Bin Abdulaziz International Airport (ELQ). This development is celebrated as a tribute to Etihad’s 20 years of linking Abu Dhabi with Saudi Arabia, enriching the cultural and economic bonds between the two nations.
Arik De, Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer at Etihad Airways, highlighted the importance of this new route, emphasizing the mutual benefits for tourism and business opportunities. He also pointed out the exceptional experience travelers will enjoy at Zayed International Airport – Terminal A, which sets new standards for travel comfort and service excellence.
Moreover, Etihad’s expansion doesn't stop here. The airline announced increased frequencies to several key destinations, including Thiruvananthapuram, Amman, Cairo, Karachi, and Colombo, along with new flights to Antalya and Jaipur starting from 15 June. This overall 33% increase in weekly flights from 642 last summer to 855 in 2024, expanding Etihad's network from 65 to 76 destinations, significantly enhances global connectivity.
