The British Embassy in Kathmandu has taken a significant step towards bolstering LGBT+ awareness, advocacy, and artistic expression in Nepal. In an inspiring move, the embassy is currently inviting organisations to pitch project proposals aimed at enhancing the visibility and rights of the LGBT+ community within the country. This initiative underscores the embassy's commitment to supporting diverse voices and fostering an inclusive society.

With a dedicated fund poised to back up to three LGBT+ organisations, the focus areas are meticulously chosen to make a tangible impact. Celebrating LGBT+ arts and culture, the initiative aims to amplify creative expression and visibility through targeted funding. Moreover, the Catalytic Advocacy Fund is set to focus on pivotal advocacy efforts designed to advance LGBT+ rights and awareness across Nepal. Additionally, the scheme will support capability and awareness-raising activities, providing essential training to bolster understanding and allyship within the development sector, including within the British Embassy Kathmandu itself.

Scheduled to take place between June 1, 2024, and March 31, 2025, the funded projects will seek to carve out spaces for dialogue, artistic endeavours, and rights advocacy. Eligibility criteria mandate that organisations must be officially registered, possess a registered bank account, and demonstrate a robust capability to deliver impactful initiatives. Furthermore, it's imperative that applicants have established policies and procedures to effectively manage fiduciary and safeguarding risks.
