Emirates Elevates Lunar New Year Celebrations with Special Onboard and Lounge Experiences
As the Lunar New Year approaches, marking the advent of the Year of the Dragon, Emirates is set to delight its customers with a series of festive celebrations. On 10 February, travelers flying with Emirates can look forward to special menus in lounges across Dubai, Singapore, Bangkok, Shanghai, and Beijing, traditional 'red envelopes' distributed inflight, and a selection of blockbuster movies in Mandarin and Cantonese to set the holiday mood.
Passengers on select routes will be treated to a unique Lunar New Year dessert. In First and Business Class, a red velvet lychee cake awaits, while Economy Class passengers can savor a creamy red velvet lychee mousse. Adding to the festive spirit, First and Business Class flyers will receive traditional red envelopes filled with chocolate coins, symbolizing good luck and wishes for the new year.
The celebration extends to Emirates Lounges, especially in Dubai, where on 10 February, guests can enjoy a breakfast featuring 'Cheung Fun' - a steamed rice noodle roll stuffed with dried prawn and scallops. Lunch and dinner menus offer delicacies like Cantonese roast duck bao, poached shrimp and vegetable dumplings, and a variety of other festive dishes, along with desserts like mango coconut cake and a tangy yuzu tartlet. A highlight is the limited edition gourmet Matcha green tea ice cream from Emirates' own ice cream cart.
In Singapore, the Emirates Lounge will serve Chinese chicken sausage in lotus leaf and rice, a dish symbolizing family unity, among other festive meals. The Bangkok lounge offers dishes like beef sweet and sour and Hainanese chicken rice, complemented by an orange mousse cake for dessert. In Beijing, passengers can enjoy Gongbao Prawn with cashew nuts and eight treasure rice pudding, while in Shanghai, the menu features sweet and sour mandarin fish and red velvet cake, celebrating the Lunar New Year in style.
Access to Emirates' Lounges is complimentary for First Class and Business Class passengers, as well as Silver, Gold, and Platinum Skywards members. Economy class passengers can also enjoy the lounge experience starting from USD 160, allowing them to partake in the festivities before their flight.
Inflight entertainment is curated to match the Lunar New Year theme, with up to 21 Mandarin and 12 Cantonese movies available, including titles like ‘Day Off’ and ‘Lighting Up the Stars’. The selection extends to over 250 Hollywood movies with Chinese subtitles and a vast music library of 115 Chinese albums. Vietnamese New Year, or Tet Festival, celebrants can choose from 7 Vietnamese movies, ensuring a festive mood onboard for all passengers.
Emirates' Lunar New Year celebrations promise an unforgettable journey for travelers, filled with cultural delights and festive cheer, heralding a prosperous Year of the Dragon.
