EHang flying taxis are now available for purchase on Taobao: How much do they cost
Chinese drone manufacturer EHang Holidings has started selling its flying taxi model EH216-S on Taobao. The cost per unit is 2.39 million yuan ($332,060).
In October, EHang received the appropriate safety certificate from the Chinese aviation authorities. This is stated in the material of the publication Market Screener.
What is known about the EHang flying taxi
This model, equipped with 16 propellers and capable of transporting 2 passengers at speeds up to 130 km/h over a maximum distance of 30 kilometres, is the first electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft (eVTOL) to receive a CAAC certificate.
Such developments open up new prospects for tourism business as EHang is considering cooperation not only as a product supplier but also as an operator of these aircraft. This can radically change the experience of travellers, offering them a unique opportunity to see the sights from a bird's eye view.
EHang's projects and others like them are part of a rapidly growing eVTOL sector that is attracting attention and investment from major players in the aviation and automotive industries, including Boeing, Embraer, Airbus, United Airlines, Toyota Motor Corp, and Stellantis. In China, in addition to EHang, AutoFlight and XPeng Inc. are also working on the development of eVTOL vehicles.
