Egypt has announced ambitious plans for architectural landmarks in 2024
Recent investments in services for archaeological and cultural sites in Egypt will enhance the tourist experience and generate more revenue.
In 2024, there will be increased investment in these ancient areas, following the guidelines set by the Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA) and the Antiquities Protection Law. This includes considerations for restaurants, markets, hotels, and boutiques, as outlined by the Egyptian State Information Service.
The SCA oversees the management and restoration of antiquities, while other companies specialize in providing services to visitors at these sites.
SCA Secretary General Mostafa Waziri stated that this partnership will, in return, offer a unique experience for tourists.
The collaboration with the private sector in providing services at archaeological sites started in 2018 on the Giza Plateau, according to the SCA chief. These services encompass cafeterias, restaurants, and events.
The inaugural lightweight tourist restaurant on the Giza Plateau was inaugurated in 2020.
Gradually, other services such as eco-friendly buses, Wi-Fi, toilets, first aid centers, bazaars, and shops will be opened on the premises, in addition to an international restaurant complex.
Waziri stated that the opening of these services coincides with the inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), the world's largest museum of Egyptology, in 2024.
