East Midlands Airport to receive £120 million investment: what will be changed and improved
The East Midlands Airport in England is about to get a makeover. A £120 million investment program is set to implement plans to speed up security checks and more.
At least four million passengers use this transportation hub every year, so the airport needed innovations that would help simplify the security checks. According to the BBC, in the future, new generation body and luggage scanners will be used.
According to the EMA, the average time for passing through security was 15 minutes, which was also an "excellent" result. However, the new devices will further improve this figure.
Future plans also include improvements to the airport's toilets and seating in the lounge, expansion of the security hall and roof renovation, as well as consideration of cashless and barrier-free operating systems.
Steve Griffiths, EMA's Chief Executive Officer, commented on the investment in airport improvements: "We are always looking for ways to improve and this investment will help us do that over the next five years and beyond."
