In the USA, a dog ate $4000 in cash: the owners were shocked
Cecil the dog, a seven-year-old Goldendoodle from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, became a local celebrity and an internet star after he ate $4000 in cash.
Clayton and Carrie Lowe, Cecil's owners, say they withdrew $4000 in cash last month to buy a house. They placed the money on the kitchen table to later give it to the contractor, according to the BBC.
When the couple returned to the kitchen, they discovered that Cecil had eaten the money.
The money had been withdrawn from the couple's joint savings account. Within 30 minutes of receiving the funds from the local bank, Cecil had already consumed the cash, leaving only a few shreds of their money behind.
In a panic, the couple initially contacted Cecil's veterinarian to inquire if the dog needed treatment. Fortunately, given his size, Cecil only required monitoring at home.
When Cecil's owners waited for the dog to relieve himself, they collected his feces and extracted the chewed banknotes. They had to wash them with soap and water and painstakingly gather them piece by piece.
After sorting through the mess, the couple managed to salvage only $450.
