Discover Airlines expands summer routes from Munich to popular Greek island
Discover Airlines, a Lufthansa Group airline, has announced a new destination from Munich Airport (MUC). This year, travelers will have access to flights to the picturesque island of Kefalonia in Greece.
These flights will start on May 17, Simple Flying reports. The new destination will complement the list of 30 weekly Discover Airlines flights to 10 other Greek islands, including Samos, Chania, Corfu, Heraklion, Mykonos, Preveza, Santorini, Zakynthos, Kalamata, and Rhodes.
Bernd Bauer, CEO of Discover Airlines, commented on the changes in the routes. He noted that the company is looking forward to the start of the summer season and expanding its presence in Greece.
"This will complement the Lufthansa Group's offerings in Munich and provide travelers with even more choice, including new direct flights to previously inaccessible destinations," the statement said.
It is reported that the airline will now operate about 70 flights a week from Munich. Previously, Discover Airlines operated only under the Lufthansa brand, but now operates as an independent carrier from Terminal 2.
By the summer, the airline's fleet in Munich will be expanded with five Airbus A320s.
As TravelWise previously reported, Ryanair plans to launch a new route from Belfast to Malta.
