Delta Expands Winter Sunshine Routes: New Caribbean and Mexico Destinations
Delta Airlines is set to brighten the winter season by expanding its offerings to include new routes to the Caribbean and Mexico, directly from its hubs in Atlanta, New York-JFK, and Minneapolis/St. Paul. This strategic move aims to provide customers across the United States with enhanced access to warm-weather escapes, catering to the rising demand for tropical getaways.
Starting next winter, Delta will initiate flights to Barbados, Puerto Plata, and Mazatlán, alongside increasing the frequency of flights to Curaçao. Joe Esposito, Delta’s Senior Vice President of Network Planning, highlighted the airline's commitment to connecting travelers to their dream vacation spots effortlessly. With this expansion, Delta will operate up to 1,000 weekly flights, offering a rich selection of destinations throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.
The airline will serve a total of 50 cities in these regions, leveraging its hubs to provide seamless connecting access from nearly 200 cities globally. The new routes include daily flights from Atlanta to Barbados starting November 23, with additional Saturday-only flights from New York-JFK commencing December 21. This service aims to reintroduce travelers to Barbados' vibrant culture and pristine beaches.
Delta's daily service to Puerto Plata from Atlanta, beginning November 23, opens up opportunities to explore the region's historic and scenic attractions, such as the Fort of San Felipe and Amber Cove. Meanwhile, the thrice-weekly service from Minneapolis/St. Paul to Mazatlán, starting December 21, invites travelers to experience the unique charm of Mexico’s Pacific Coast.
In response to the surging interest in Curaçao, known for its colorful architecture and rich culinary scene, Delta is boosting its flight frequency from Atlanta from Saturday-only to daily service, starting November 23. This expansion not only offers more flexibility for travelers but also underscores Delta's responsiveness to customer demand.
Delta's new and enhanced routes will be operated by Boeing 737-800 aircraft, featuring First Class, Delta Comfort+, and Main Cabin options. The airline is also planning to upgrade the premium experience on this fleet, including the introduction of its newest First Class seats, among other enhancements.
For customers eager to plan their Latin America or Caribbean vacation, Delta Vacations provides a comprehensive package that includes flights, hotels, and activities. Starting in 2024, SkyMiles Members will benefit from earning miles towards their trips, including additional credits toward Medallion Status, and the option to use miles to cover travel expenses.
This expansion not only exemplifies Delta's dedication to offering exceptional travel experiences but also positions the airline as a leader in facilitating access to some of the world's most desirable vacation destinations.
