Daily Flights Resume: AirAsia Reconnects Penang with Kuching and Kota Kinabalu
In a significant move for regional travel, AirAsia resumes daily services between Penang and the key East Malaysian cities of Kuching and Kota Kinabalu. This resumption marks a resurgence of travel and tourism within Malaysia, fulfilling the airline’s pledge to boost its East Malaysian network.
Celebrations greeted flight AK5432 from Penang to Kuching, which reported over 80% capacity, indicating robust potential for the renewed service. A ceremonial water salute honored the aircraft’s arrival, heralding a new era of connectivity. Bo Lingam, Group CEO of AirAsia Aviation Group, articulated the airline’s intent to meet the burgeoning travel demand. "This route resumption underlines our promise to enhance Malaysian connectivity and invigorate our East Malaysian hubs," Lingam asserted.
Tourism Malaysia Sarawak's Director, Nurul Ain Mohammed Yunus, recognized the resumed services as a critical milestone in bolstering tourism between Penang and Sarawak. "We anticipate a significant uplift in Sarawak's tourism from the Penang market, thanks to these enhanced links," said Yunus.
This strategic move by AirAsia is poised to catalyze economic growth and tourism, as the airline welcomes an increasing number of passengers keen on exploring the cultural and natural splendors of Malaysia. The reestablished routes demonstrate AirAsia's commitment to not only enabling more frequent and accessible travel within the nation but also to fostering the economic and cultural vibrancy between the northwest and the eastern regions of Malaysia.
