Cunard and Savile Row Master Tailor Kathryn Sargent Unite for New Ship's Uniforms
Luxury cruise line Cunard has collaborated with Kathryn Sargent, the world's first female Master Tailor from Savile Row, for the creation of bespoke uniforms ahead of the launch of its new ship, Queen Anne.
In a recent meeting, Cunard captain, Inger Thorhauge, was seen with Kathryn Sargent for the final fitting session. This marked the culmination of their partnership in crafting uniforms tailored to perfection for the next generation of Cunard Captains and Officers.
Drawing inspiration from the rich history preserved in the Cunard archives, the new uniforms blend quintessential British design elements with the grandeur and legacy of oceanic voyages. This fusion creates a sophisticated and timeless aesthetic that pays homage to both tradition and innovation.
Captain Inger Thorhauge expressed her excitement, stating, "It’s been a privilege to work with Kathryn and see how the style and elegance of her uniforms have come to life throughout the design and fitting process. I can’t wait to wear the new uniform with pride when my team and I will be welcoming guests for the very first time on 3 May."
Kathryn Sargent shared her sentiments, remarking, "I have long held a fascination and interest in the symbolism and structure of uniforms and working with Cunard. It has been a privilege to get to know Captain Inger and to work with a brand whose principles closely align with a shared sense of tradition, precision, craft and putting the individual at the heart of what both do – and an appreciation for dressing appropriately with a sense of occasion, grace, and comfort."
The collaboration between Cunard and Kathryn Sargent underscores a dedication to excellence, tradition, and individuality, promising a seamless blend of heritage and contemporary style in the attire of Cunard's esteemed crew members. As anticipation builds for the launch of Queen Anne, the unveiling of these meticulously crafted uniforms adds an extra layer of excitement to the forthcoming maiden voyage.
