Carnival Cruise Line Unveils Lokono Cove, a Bahamian Cultural Hub on Celebration Key
Carnival Cruise Line recently unveiled exciting details about their upcoming exclusive destination on Grand Bahama, Celebration Key. The highlight of this new development is Lokono Cove, a retail portal that promises to immerse visitors in the vibrant culture and flavors of the Bahamas.
Lokono Cove, named through a community competition supported by the Ministry for Grand Bahama and the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture, emerged as the winning submission. Carnival Cruise Line President Christine Duffy made the announcement at the prestigious Seatrade Cruise Global conference held in Miami Beach.
Situated at one of the five portals of Celebration Key, Lokono Cove will feature a diverse array of stores and kiosks, along with an authentic Bahamian artisan market showcasing local craftsmanship. Visitors can expect to peruse through a variety of locally crafted goods, ranging from souvenirs to fine jewelry. However, Lokono Cove aims to offer more than just shopping opportunities; it seeks to provide an immersive experience into Bahamian culture.
Guests at Lokono Cove will be treated to the sounds of Bahamian music as they stroll beneath swaying palm trees adorned with vibrant murals painted by talented local artists. Beyond shopping, Lokono Cove will be a place for indulging in local snacks and beverages, allowing visitors to savor the essence of Bahamian cuisine.
Carnival Cruise Line's commitment to celebrating Bahamian culture extends beyond Lokono Cove. The destination aims to serve as a gateway for guests to explore the beauty of Grand Bahama Island. Whether through independent exploration or Carnival Adventures shore excursions, Lokono Cove will be the starting point for unforgettable island experiences.
As Lokono Cove prepares to welcome its first guests in July 2025, anticipation is building for the unique experiences it will offer. With more than 500 itineraries featuring visits to Celebration Key, Carnival Cruise Line is poised to showcase the beauty and culture of the Bahamas to travelers from around the world.
