British tourists warned to "never" buy travel insurance in these two places
Aviva's research shows that more than one in nine vacationers (12%) are planning to buy travel insurance this year. Typically, tourists buy it either at the airport or upon arrival at their destination.
Aviva warns British tourists and vacationers not to buy travel insurance at the airport or at their destination. This is emphasized by birminghammail.co.
Kelly Whittington, director of insurance claims at Aviva, explains that when starting their trip, travelers may not realize that they will not be able to apply for a refund if the worst happens.
"There are a couple of reasons for this - firstly because most insurance companies say that all travel must start in the UK. Second, you won't get coverage for a trip that has already started (which technically counts as soon as you leave home). Getting in the habit of taking out insurance as soon as you book your trip is one way to make sure you are covered from the start," Kelly emphasizes.
