British Airways Celebrates Lunar New Year with Special In-flight Menu and Festive Surprises
In a vibrant tribute to the Lunar New Year, British Airways has unveiled an array of special features and culinary delights for passengers traveling to Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Singapore. This initiative is a nod to the Year of the Dragon, a symbol of luck and power in Chinese culture, enhancing the travel experience with festive menus and surprises.
Passengers across all cabins will be treated to traditional dishes designed to evoke luck and prosperity. First-class passengers can savor a black pepper spiced fillet of beef accompanied by Chinese seven-spiced broccolini, while Club World (business class) travelers can enjoy the spicy Kung Pao prawn, a dish with imperial roots. A delightful white chocolate tangerine mousse, representing gold in Chinese tradition, will be available to both First and Club World passengers.
The celebration extends to World Traveller Plus (premium economy) and World Traveller (economy) cabins, where passengers can enjoy Lion’s Head meatballs, a traditional Huaiyang dish named for its resemblance to a lion's head, symbolizing family unity.
Calum Laming, British Airways’ Chief Customer Officer, expressed the airline's enthusiasm for participating in the festive season, emphasizing the importance of family reunions during the Lunar New Year. He extended warm wishes for a Happy Year of the Dragon to all celebrating customers.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, passengers traveling through London Heathrow Terminal 5 during the festival week will receive traditional red envelopes containing chocolate coins, a symbol of good fortune and wealth. The celebration will be further enlivened with lion dancers performing in the concourse, adding a visual feast to the festive offerings.
For those bound for London, the airline's customer service teams are set to spread holiday cheer with surprise upgrades to Club World and lounge access. These special treats will be bestowed upon a select group of passengers born in the Year of the Dragon, making their journey even more memorable.
British Airways' commitment to celebrating the Lunar New Year showcases its dedication to enhancing customer experiences through cultural engagement and exceptional service, making every journey with the airline a celebration in itself.
