Bare feet, rudeness and loud conversations: Things tourists and staff do that annoy other passengers
Vacations can be marred not only by the vagaries of the weather or flight delays but also by the unruly behaviour of other tourists. According to a study by Ocean Florida, one in five travellers had a negative experience with other people.
A team of researchers interviewed 2000 vacationers to find out what behavior annoys them the most while travelling, Express writes. The respondents readily named the traits in fellow travellers or staff that left unpleasant memories.
The biggest "red flag" on vacation, according to the study, is rudeness to staff: 73% of respondents consider such behaviour unacceptable.
Drunkenness during most of the vacation is the second most common irritating factor. More than half of tourists are annoyed by people around them who drink excessively.
Listening to music out loud and talking too loudly on the phone also annoy a significant number of vacationers who would rather spend time in silence, listen to a guide, or have a quiet conversation with other people.
Another thing that annoys travellers is taking off your shoes while flying on an airplane. Many respondents find it unhygienic and disgusting. The same category includes a combination of socks and sandals, which causes aesthetic discomfort for tourists.
The last thing on the list was applause after the plane landed. It has been said more than once that pilots do not hear what is happening in the cabin, so this noise is only a loud irritant.
As TravelWise previously reported, American Airlines removed a man from a flight due to indecent behaviour. He quarreled with a passenger and, in the midst of the conflict, deliberately farted on the plane.
