An ingenious life hack that will turn a trip with a child into a real holiday
Going on vacation with a child is not easy. You often pack too many things, forgetting what you really need. However, preparation is the key to success, and one mom posted a helpful organizational trick to help you keep things simple.
Elizabeth Homen (@elizabethhomen), who shares useful tips for parents, posted a video on Instagram showing how she packs clothes and other essentials for her child on a trip. Her subscribers liked her advice very much," writes the Newsweek website.
First, Elizabeth rolls all the things into one vest and closes the package with zippers so that each day is separate and easily accessible. Then she packs each package in a shoe organizer, along with all the other little things like bottles and pacifiers.
When you arrive at your destination, simply hang the shoe organizer on the back of the door. That way, you can grab everything you need in the morning without rummaging through your suitcase.
Homen wrote in the caption: "This is probably the best mom travel hack we've seen! So many of you have sent me different versions of this video since we are always sharing organizational stuff."
Homen notes that when you travel with a baby or young child, there are so many extra different things to pack! Including music machines, monitors, nail clippers, toiletries, diapers, wipes, sippy cups, bottles, snacks, pacifiers, toys, and so on!
Commenters praised the mom for her organizational skills. One wrote: "I like that everything is packed together! Very convenient."
Another said: "I needed this 3 days ago, will definitely try it on our next trip!"
Some think it can save time every morning, not just during vacation. One commenter wrote: "Can you believe how much time and stress this practice could eliminate if you used this technique every week?"
If you find traveling with an infant or young child stressful, you're not alone. A recent survey of 2,000 parents of children under the age of 10 revealed some of the challenges and joys they face when traveling with their little ones.
While 69 percent of parents said their children make vacations fun and 72 percent said they look forward to bonding with their children, many said traveling is difficult.
Among the most popular life hacks mentioned by parents were traveling at night, having trays on hand, or making frequent stops. Toys (38%), snacks (38%), and car games (35%) also proved popular while traveling.
