An effective life hack for travelers: how to quickly check your flight
Air travel, especially for an unprepared traveler, can be very stressful, especially at the airport. A former airline employee has shared a life hack that will allow travelers to access consolidated and verified information about their flight with just one click.
In particular, thanks to this life hack, you won't have to browse your airline's website to find out about current flight status updates. It also allows you to avoid being tied to information screens at the airport, as reported by News 18.
A TikTok user named Darby, who has worked in the aviation industry for more than three years, told her followers that each airline has a specific code; for example, Delta Airline uses DL. On the day of the flight, you need to send a text message with the flight number prefixed with the airline's code.
She described this action as follows: "In the morning before your flight, you text yourself your flight number. The main thing is that you have to include your airline's code, for example, if I'm flying on American Airlines flight 686, I'll enter AA 686."
Darby says that you can also send this airline number to the person who comes to pick you up from the airport. The code automatically becomes a link to the airline's website, which directs you to the flight update.
This link will take you to a webpage that will list all the details, such as whether the flight arrived on time, what time it left, when it arrived, what the check-in gate is, and the baggage claim number. This small link becomes the focal point of all information about the specified flight.
The information on this link is always up to date. This way, you don't have to scan different web pages or pay attention to airport announcements.
Darby said that although she used this method for American flights, it also works for international flights. If you have a connecting flight, you can keep track of both flights by sending the numbers of both flights in a text message.
