An art festival to promote tourism was opened in Beypore, India
Tourism Minister Mohammed Riyas outlined the government's goal of making Beypore a globally recognized tourism destination. This involves implementing projects that will benefit local communities. He said this during the opening of the Responsible Tourism and Textile Art Festival, which was held as part of the third Beypore International Water Festival (BIWF).
BIWF is an annual event with exciting water sports competitions and a diverse programme. This is reported by ET Travel World.
BIWF intends to attract the attention of the whole world with its lineup of water sports. People from different countries and different states of India take part in them. In addition, this year it is being held in conjunction with the Crafts Festival.
The Responsible Tourism and Textile Arts Festival is a showcase of art and craft traditions spanning 17 states in India, including pottery, weaving, tailoring, and more. In general, it is about the skills that are passed down from generation to generation.
"The Crafts Festival is conceived as a complementary function to the Baypore International Water Festival when the ancient port city of Malabar is set to become a global tourist destination," Riyas said.
In addition to showcasing a variety of textile products, the festival also features art and crafts. These include dyeing, printing on fabric, making decorative garments such as tapestries, as well as demonstrations of various types of handlooms and spinning equipment used by craftsmen from different states and sub-regions.
Various souvenirs are also sold here, including agricultural and food products from various departments of the State Food and Consumer Service at affordable prices. According to RT Mission State Coordinator K. Rupeshkumar, various events are also planned here, such as talks and seminars on preserving craft traditions and using them to promote tourism.
