Alaska Airlines Launches Direct Seattle-Toronto Flights
Alaska Airlines is set to launch a new daily nonstop service between Seattle and Toronto, beginning May 16, 2024. This marks the airline's first direct connection between its home airport in Seattle and Canada's largest city, Toronto.
The service will commence with a convenient schedule, departing from Seattle at 7:00 a.m. and arriving in Toronto at 2:40 p.m., and a return flight leaving Toronto at 3:40 p.m., reaching Seattle by 5:55 p.m. The flights will be operated using the Boeing 737-900 aircraft. Tickets for this new route are now available for purchase on the Alaska Airlines website.
Toronto, located on the shores of Lake Ontario, offers travelers a mix of vibrant downtown life, walkable neighborhoods, scenic parks, rich history, and diverse culinary and entertainment options. This new route is not only a boon for leisure travelers but also serves to link important business hubs in the U.S. and Canada.
Kirsten Amrine, Alaska Airlines' Vice President of Revenue Management and Network Planning, emphasized the airline's commitment to enhancing connectivity in the Pacific Northwest. This new Seattle-Toronto route is a response to a growing demand from passengers for a direct flight between these two dynamic cities.
This introduction will expand Alaska Airlines' Canadian network, making Toronto the sixth Canadian city served by the airline, alongside Calgary, Edmonton, Kelowna, Vancouver, and Victoria. This is not the airline's first venture into eastern Canada from the West Coast. In the early 1990s, Alaska Airlines operated a nonstop service between Los Angeles and Toronto.
In December, Alaska Airlines announced its 30th global airline partnership with Porter Airlines, a Toronto-based Canadian carrier. Both airlines are looking forward to strengthening their partnership throughout 2024. Porter Airlines recently initiated new flights from Los Angeles to Toronto on January 16 and is set to start service between San Francisco and Toronto on January 25.
The new Seattle-Toronto service by Alaska Airlines is a significant step in enhancing air connectivity between the United States and Canada, offering both leisure and business travelers more flexibility and convenience.
