In a remarkable start to the Hari Raya festive season, AirAsia has launched its special late-night flight service at fixed fares to Miri, Sarawak, achieving a 100% load factor. This initiative marks a significant step towards affordable travel, allowing passengers to return home for the celebrations with ease and convenience.
The inaugural flight, AK 9644, was celebrated with a special ceremony at Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2, attended by distinguished guests including YB Tuan Loke Siew Fook, the Minister of Transport Malaysia, and Bo Lingam, the Group CEO of AirAsia Aviation Group. This initiative is part of AirAsia's commitment to providing accessible travel options during one of the busiest travel seasons in Malaysia.
On March 4, 2024, the fixed fare flights initiative was officially launched, unveiling a total of 22,000 seats across 11 destinations in East Malaysia from Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru. With fares set at RM298 to Sarawak and RM348 to Sabah for a one-way journey, this initiative aims to alleviate the financial burden of traveling during peak seasons, ensuring that families can reunite without the worry of fluctuating travel costs.
Minister Loke highlighted the government's ongoing efforts to enhance public transportation's affordability and efficiency, acknowledging AirAsia's vital role in making affordable homecoming trips possible for thousands of Malaysians. Meanwhile, Lingam expressed AirAsia's dedication to the festive spirit, promising safe and affordable travels for all guests.
As part of the initiative, AirAsia also encourages passengers to utilize the AirAsia MOVE app for seamless check-in and boarding processes, catering to the expected surge in passenger volume during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri period. The airline's proactive measures, including advice on early airport arrival and baggage preparation, underscore its commitment to a smooth and joyful travel experience for its guests.
