AirAsia X and Kazakh Tourism Forge Strategic Partnership to Boost Malaysia-Kazakhstan Travel
In a move poised to significantly enhance tourism and economic relations between Malaysia and Kazakhstan, AirAsia X (AAX) has entered into a strategic partnership with Kazakhstan Tourism. This collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), follows the successful inauguration of AirAsia X’s flights to Almaty, Kazakhstan.
The newly signed MoU outlines a roadmap for increased commercial collaboration and partnership efforts aimed at promoting mutual tourism, developing joint sales and marketing initiatives, and leveraging tourism as a vehicle for economic growth in both countries. As part of this alliance, AirAsia X will not only facilitate travel from Malaysia and other Southeast Asian nations to Almaty but will also offer connections from Almaty to over 130 destinations across Asia through Kuala Lumpur, thereby significantly expanding travel options and fostering regional connectivity.
Key figures such as Benyamin Ismail, CEO of AirAsia X, and Kairat Sadvakassov, Chairman of Kazakhstan Tourism, inked the agreement in the presence of dignitaries including H.E Mohd Adli Bin Abdullah, Ambassador of Malaysia to Kazakhstan; Datuk Kamarudin Meranun, Executive Chairman of Capital A; and Dato’ Fam Lee Ee, Chairman of AirAsia X. The signing ceremony also saw participation from representatives of Almaty Airport, Civil Aviation Authority of Kazakhstan, and other notable industry stakeholders.
"This strategic alliance is a monumental step forward for the travel economies of both Malaysia and Kazakhstan, opening new doors and creating a plethora of opportunities for travelers and businesses alike," stated Benyamin Ismail. He emphasized the significance of competitive fares in stimulating air travel and its consequential benefits for the tourism industry, a critical driver for job creation and economic growth.
From Kazakhstan's perspective, Kairat Sadvakassov expressed enthusiasm about welcoming AirAsia X to their country, highlighting the broader implications for the Central Asian region. He noted, "Kazakhstan, serving as the heart and gateway of Central Asia, provides unparalleled access to a wealth of attractions in our region."
The partnership is further sweetened by promotional offers, including remarkable fares from Almaty to Kuala Lumpur starting at only USD15. With flights operating four times a week, this collaboration is set to pave the way for enhanced tourism, cultural exchange, and economic development between Malaysia and Kazakhstan, heralding a new chapter in their bilateral relations.
