AirAsia Marks Lunar New Year with Full Flights to Sibu at Fixed Fares
In a festive gesture celebrating Lunar New Year, AirAsia has announced a 100% booking rate for its exclusive late-night service from Kuala Lumpur to Sibu, priced at fixed rates. The flight, which embarked today, symbolizes the airline's commitment to facilitating affordable family reunions during peak seasons.
The departure of flight AK9070 was honored by the presence of YB Anthony Loke, Malaysia's Minister of Transport, and Captain Chester Voo, Deputy Group CEO (Airline Operations) of AirAsia Aviation Group, at Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2. The event underscored the airline's dedication to value and convenience, highlighting the government's initiatives for economical travel during high-demand periods.
Minister Loke expressed his satisfaction with AirAsia's efforts to maintain reasonable fares, especially with initiatives like the late-night flights to East Malaysia. He extended New Year greetings and applauded the airline for its role in promoting affordable travel.
Bo Lingam, Group CEO of AirAsia Aviation Group, emphasized the airline's role as Asia's leader in low-fare travel. He highlighted the introduction of 134 late-night flights at fixed rates across seven popular destinations in East Malaysia, offering around 25,000 seats to facilitate holiday travel. Lingam expressed delight in the overwhelming response, with over half of these special flights achieving full capacity for the festive week, thereby ensuring cost-effective homecomings.
AirAsia also encourages travelers to utilize the airasia Superapp for self-check-in and e-Boarding Passes to streamline their travel experience. With an anticipated increase in passenger volume, the airline advises arriving at the airport three hours prior to departure. Additionally, passengers are reminded of the cabin baggage allowance and the recommendation to secure sufficient baggage allowance in advance for the best value.
