AirAsia Expands Horizons with Direct Flights to Perth on A321neo
AirAsia Malaysia has achieved a new feat in its growth narrative by inaugurating direct flights to Perth, Australia, marking a significant expansion of its network. The first flight, ferrying eager passengers aboard the state-of-the-art Airbus A321neo, took off from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (Terminal 2) at 2:10 PM, culminating its journey at Perth International Airport at 7:50 PM local time with an impressive load of 95%.
The celebratory atmosphere was palpable as passengers on flight AK604 were bid farewell by the enthusiastic AirAsia team, complete with special goodie bags brimming with exclusive merchandise. This marks the beginning of increased accessibility to Western Australia's capital, with flight frequency doubling from seven to 14 weekly flights. AirAsia's move fortifies its ambition to make air travel more accessible, thereby reinforcing its stature as a leading low-cost carrier in Asia.
Bo Lingam, Group CEO of AirAsia Aviation Group, expressed his excitement over the milestone, "Launching our first Australian route with the beautiful city of Perth is a proud moment for us. With the introduction of our A321neo aircraft, capable of over five hours of flight, we are able to offer these routes affordably and efficiently."
Perth's popularity among Malaysians for leisure, education, and family visits makes this connection especially significant. This link not only caters to the demand from Malaysia, which represents Western Australia’s fourth-largest international tourist market but also addresses Australians’ preference for affordable, culturally rich Asian destinations.
In light of this inaugural service, AirAsia has announced promotional all-inclusive fares starting from RM299 for flights from Kuala Lumpur to Perth and AUD166 for the return journey. These fares are bookable from today until March 17, 2024, for travel up to November 30, 2024. Reservations can be made through the 'Flights' icon on the AirAsia MOVE app or the official website, inviting travelers to start planning their Australian adventure.
