Air Canada's Culinary Revolution: Over 100 New Dishes Take to the Skies
Air Canada is setting a new standard in in-flight dining, unveiling an extensive menu overhaul that spans over 100 globally-inspired dishes and drinks across all cabin classes. This ambitious refresh aims to elevate the airline's culinary offerings, ensuring a memorable dining experience for passengers flying any class.
Crafted by Culinary Maestros
In collaboration with renowned chefs David Hawksworth, Vikram Vij, and Jérôme Ferrer, Air Canada introduces a series of rotating seasonal dishes. These creations, paired with a wine selection curated by sommelier Véronique Rivest, are designed to reflect the diverse palates of Canada's multicultural demographic and the global traveler.
Scott O’Leary, Air Canada’s Vice President of Loyalty & Product, expressed pride in the initiative, emphasizing the focus on homegrown Canadian products and ingredients that cater to a wide array of tastes and preferences.
Raising the Bar in Air Travel Cuisine
Air Canada distinguishes itself from regional competitors with unique offerings such as hot kids' meals in its Bistro buy-on-board program and hot meals in business class on flights shorter than two hours - a first for North American airlines.
Economy Class Innovations
Passengers flying International Economy are treated to choices like Red Thai Chicken and Rice or Chicken Cacciatore, with a Pancake and Canadian Maple Syrup option for breakfast. The menu also features international starters such as Hummus, Soba Noodles, and Chaat, alongside European flight exclusives like Monty's Bakehouse Savory Pastries.
The Bistro menu introduces items like Peppercorn Roast Beef Sandwich, Cheeseburger Sliders, and Mediterranean Hummus Wraps, complemented by a selection of new beverages including Tequila Tromba and Campari.
Signature Class Delicacies
Signature Class travelers can look forward to a global culinary journey with dishes such as Teriyaki Salmon with Shangdong Noodles, Middle Eastern Mezze Platter, and Butter Chicken with Basmati Rice, starting Spring 2024. The drink menu gets a boost with additions like Haton Cuvée Classique and Duval-Leroy Brut Réserve champagnes, along with Montellier sparkling water as a non-alcoholic option.
Snacks and Meal Pre-ordering Expansion
The snack range expands to include items like Sweet Sixteen original candy mix, Chomps grass-fed beef jerky, and Ghirardelli dark chocolate squares for Signature Class and premium economy passengers. The meal pre-ordering service will also extend to premium cabins on North American and later international flights, enhancing passenger experience and aiding in waste reduction.
With last summer’s introduction of oat milk, IPA craft beers, and Aperol spritzes, Air Canada boasts the "largest in-flight bar offering" among North American carriers, promising more culinary innovations in the year ahead.
