Advice for passangers on how to use restroom on a plane without endangering themselves
On airplanes, beaches, and airports, travellers have to use a shared restroom, which is rarely sterile. This can lead to diseases if you are not careful. Health and travel experts have identified the most hygienic way to use the restroom during a flight.
This simple process consists of small steps that are often forgotten but which can protect the body from viruses and bacteria. Experts shared their tips with the Huffington Post.
Disinfecting
Use a disinfectant wipe or sanitizer to wipe down armrests, seats, handles, and anything else that dozens of other people touch. This will help avoid contact with potentially infected mundane items.
Hands are not the only part of the body that comes into contact with surfaces in the toilet. Experts recommend minimizing contact with the sink, cistern, and walls.
Napkins instead of paper
There is no guarantee that toilet paper in the public room has not been contaminated. It is advisable to replace it with wipes that are tightly packed in a pack and have an antibacterial effect.
Closed lid
Most likely, the toilet will have a sign asking you to close the lid before flushing, but if not, you just need to remember to do so. Germs are usually spread when the toilet is being cleaned.
Shoes
There have been cases where passengers have gone to the restroom without shoes, making contact with the floor with their bare feet. This should never be done as the floors in public places are dirty.
Hands
You should not skip the step of washing your hands with soap and water even if you have disinfectant wipes in your bag. Water and soap will clean your hands better and help prevent the spread of germs.
