Aalborg Adds Direct Flight to Verona for Summer Season

A new direct route between Aalborg and Verona has officially launched, giving northern Denmark a nonstop link to northern Italy. Operated by Volotea, the service began on 30 April and will run until 15 October. Flights are scheduled once a week on Thursdays, with a short pause in August. The route is operated using an Airbus A320.
The first departure was marked at Aalborg Airport with a launch event for passengers boarding the inaugural flight. Travellers were welcomed at the gate with small celebrations before departure. The new service builds on Volotea’s existing presence in Aalborg, where the airline has expanded its network over recent years with a focus on leisure destinations across Europe.
Verona is positioned as the arrival point for a wider part of northern Italy. The city itself is known for its historic centre and cultural links, while also sitting close to major travel routes. With this connection, Aalborg gains direct access to one of the main entry points into the region, without relying on transfers through larger European hubs.
What the route connects
- Verona city centre and surrounding region
- Lake Garda and nearby resort areas
- The Dolomites for hiking and outdoor travel
- Cities such as Venice, Bologna and Milan
The route makes it possible to combine different parts of northern Italy within a single trip. From Verona, it is easy to reach lakes, mountains and nearby cities without long transfers, which suits both short stays and longer plans. Direct access also cuts out time normally spent changing planes, making quick breaks more realistic.
A weekly direct flight gives northern Jutland a more straightforward connection to southern Europe during the summer. Flying without a transfer removes one of the more unpredictable parts of the journey, especially when travelling through larger hubs. With a fixed departure day, it is also simpler to organise trips in advance, whether for one destination or a wider route across northern Italy.
