A tourist bus overturns in the US, killing one person
A tourist bus travelling from Montreal to New York was involved in a terrible accident that killed at least one person and injured more than two dozen passengers. The vehicle overturned on the highway.
According to ABC News, citing officials, the accident occurred on Route 87 between Lake George and Warrensburg in upstate New York. Air services were involved in the rescue.
As of now, there are 22 victims with injuries of varying severity and one death. It is worth noting that there were only 23 people in the cabin, including the driver, so everyone was injured.
One of the passengers was seriously injured, while the injuries of the others are not life-threatening, FlixBus, the bus operator, said.
"The safety of passengers and drivers is always of the utmost importance to FlixBus. FlixBus is deeply shocked by what has happened and sends its deepest condolences to the victim's family and friends, and expresses its full support to the passengers and drivers affected by this accident," the company said in a statement.
The cause of the bus overturning has not yet been established. The competent authorities are currently investigating the incident.
