Stunning Scottish destination: a must-visit for travelers in 2024

Travel experts say you don't have to board a plane to visit the best places this year. The picturesque Scottish destination has been included in the list of the 24 best places to visit around the world in 2024.

Big 7 Travel has published its ranking, along with the trends shaping travel for the next 12 months. Cairngorms National Park made the list, as reported by thescottishsun.co.

Experts from Big 7 stated, "The Scottish Highlands are always beautiful, and each season has its own charm. Summer is perfect for wild camping and wild swimming, while spring is the best time for wildflowers and baby animals. However, early fall, in October and early November, is cheaper than spring and summer, and you can still experience long sunny days and beautiful fall colors."

The selection of Cairngorms aligns with the new tourist trend of "staying on a farm and in a barn." Travelers are likely to opt for cozy accommodations over luxury hotels, and the Highlands are the ideal destination for this.

A spokesperson for Big Seven remarked, "More travelers are swapping hotels and villas for cozy barns and farmhouses, and if waking up to stunning views of mountains and fields sounds like heaven to you, then the Scottish Highlands are the place to be. The Highlands cover a wide area, but if you want to experience the highlights: mountains, great hikes, shimmering lochs, wildlife, quaint villages, outdoor adventures, and castles, then head to the Cairngorms."

Among the must-do activities in Cairngorms are climbing Munros (mountains over 3,000 feet high), cycling through the forests, and kayaking on the rivers.

In addition to Cairngorms, another location in the UK made the list. Another travel trend in 2024 is visiting film sets - exploring television and movie locations. Big 7 named Bath as the perfect place for this, as it was featured in the hit Netflix series Bridgerton.
