A powerful tornado hit Florida, damaging homes and boats. Video
A powerful tornado was recorded in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, damaging homes, boats and power lines. Meteorologists warn that the storm continues to move towards the East Coast and that strong winds are expected in other cities.
Calls and texts complaining about the weather began pouring in to officials on Saturday around 5:50 p.m. ET. Soon after, a tornado touched down in Fort Lauderdale, which was filmed, FOX Weather reports.
Fort Lauderdale authorities reported that no one was injured and that the damage from the storm seems to be minor. The damage includes damage to boats, roofs of some houses, and electric poles.
The tornado, according to witnesses, swept through a residential area and the marina.
The city is currently restoring power supply, but the debris will be cleared at the beginning of the week. Utility workers will be removing construction debris and other storm-related debris from the streets.
Meteorologists have warned that Florida could experience even more severe weather in the coming days as another powerful storm approaches the US east coast.
