A modern residential complex for 7 thousand houses will be built on the outskirts of a famous British city
In the west of Edinburgh, between Ingliston Park & Ride and Gogar Roundabout, a new £2 billion neighborhood with 7,000 homes will be built. The newly created city will become the epicenter of modern housing, combining the comfort and infrastructure of modern life within the concept of a "city in 20 minutes".
Developers have applied to develop a 200-acre settlement outside Edinburgh. This project is called West Town, the Express writes, and it is already called the largest residential development in modern history.
What is known about the new West Town development
The construction of the complex will be carried out by West Town Edinburgh Limited, established in April 2021 by Drum Property Group, the company that owns the land.
The complex will include shops, schools, social and medical facilities, as well as a park with nearly 10 km of active hiking trails covering approximately 500,000 square feet of commercial space. According to the developers, 27 acres of parks and a network of bicycle, jogging and walking paths will be created on the territory.
In addition, a tram route will be created for the convenience of residents, and now you won't need a car to live in the area.
The creators are confident that West Town will be an exemplary modern city, equal to the best new buildings in the UK and Europe.
Drum Managing Director Graham Bone noted that the first phase of houses and public facilities will be ready for occupancy in early 2026.
It is noted that all homes and commercial spaces are carefully designed to provide the perfect blend of living, working, learning, and nature for everyone.
The project team includes JM Architects, Mott MacDonald as geotechnical and transportation consultant, WSP as environmental, noise and vibration, and archaeology consultant, and Synergie Environ as energy and sustainability consultant.
