"A huge problem": immigrant describes the downside of life in Australia
A British traveler named Archie shared his experience of living in Australia, highlighting a problem that he believes is "not talked about enough": racism.
In his videos, Archie describes his travels and work experiences in Australia and Southeast Asia. Despite the beauty and attractiveness of the country, he has encountered the unpleasant side of life among Australians, as reported by Express.
"Racism in Australia is a huge problem," Archie said. He mentioned that visitors often hear negative stereotypes about indigenous people and Aboriginals.
"I've worked with some of them, and they are some of the kindest, most generous people I've ever met. They are always so positive and happy. They are just really good people who are a pleasure to be around. So don't judge people by what other people say about them," Archie assured.
Relations between Aboriginal people and immigrants in the country have always been tense, and the issue has even been highlighted at UN meetings.
Archie also found some positive aspects of living among Australians. For example, he is impressed by the scale of the country, which is 20 times larger than the UK but has a much lower population density. This allows tourists to enjoy the beauty of coastal landscapes in seclusion.
The friendliness and hospitality of Perth residents also made a pleasant impression on Archie. He notes that the sincere "good day" wishes from strangers have restored his faith in humanity.
As TravelWise previously reported, an American woman who writes a blog about life in Australia shared her experience.
