A frequent flyer was praised for protecting other passengers who stand up as soon as their plane lands
Travelers' opinions have long been divided on the topic of proper etiquette when disembarking from an airplane. When the seat belt sign lights up, some people quickly stand up, while others remain frozen in their seats until the rows of passengers in front of them exit.
Social media users praised a 50-year-old frequent flyer after he shared on Reddit what he really thinks about passengers who stand up immediately after a plane lands. This was reported by dailymail.co.
"I fly 5-7 flights a month, and I still don't understand the hatred for those who get up when the plane lands. Who cares what others think; getting up won't hurt anyone," the post reads.
More than 1,000 people commented on what they thought of the flyer's opinion, turning it into a topic of discussion on Reddit.
According to Federal Aviation Regulations, the "Fasten seat belts" sign on all flights must be illuminated and sounded before boarding, but there are no laws requiring passengers to remain in their seats after the lights go out.
The U.S. Code of Federal Regulations also states that "no [air carrier] may take off or land an aircraft unless the back of each passenger seat is in an upright position."
Reddit users responded favorably to the frequent flyer's post, while others strongly disagreed with his opinion.
