A cruise passenger shared about a taboo topic that makes people hush
Traveler Mark Sebastian, currently on a nine-month cruise, confessed to making a mistake that left everyone around him silent. He broached a topic that unofficially holds taboo status during sea adventures.
The tourist is on the luxury liner Serenade of the Seas by Royal Caribbean, and he periodically shares his shipboard experiences on TikTok.
After 18 nights of travel, the blogger admitted to a significant blunder that bewildered nearby tourists. The passenger explained, "You can't talk about the Titanic. Who would have thought?"
According to Mark, during a lunchtime meal, he suddenly recalled that their ship was only 100 feet longer than the Titanic and eagerly shared this thought with his companions.
At that moment, the waiters gasped, and a dead silence ensued. Only one passenger leaned over and whispered, "You are not allowed to talk about the Titanic."
This reaction from people in the middle of the vast ocean isn't surprising, considering the Titanic's tragic sinking after colliding with an iceberg, leading to the loss of many lives in the cold water. Tourists typically prefer not to contemplate this when sailing on a giant ship that has been compared to the infamous liner.
In the comments, many people admitted that they, too, couldn't be on board the ship without thinking about the Titanic, while others argued that they wouldn't want to hear about this story during the cruise.
