5$ for a pen on an airplane: A flight attendant refused to lend a pen to a passenger
Douglas Lazickirk was on a Jetstar flight from Sydney to Seoul, South Korea. He approached the flight attendant and asked to borrow a pen. According to him, the passenger was asked to pay $5 to get it.
The passenger needed to fill out an arrival card. However, he claims that when he asked the crew to borrow a pen, they refused. After the incident, he wrote on TikTok to explain what happened. This was reported by mirror.co.
"I went to the back row and asked the woman if she had a pen I can borrow. I told her I had five questions and I just needed to answer them quickly and write them down." She said I can't use her pen, but I can buy one for $5... or when I get there, use the pen there," he said in a video on his @onlytravel account.
The Australian was confused by the answer, which prompted him to ask again if he could use the writing utensils, and he claims that the flight attendant still refused. The frequent flyer bought a pen, but his problems were not over.
When Douglas landed, he checked his online banking and noticed that he had been charged a fee. He then filed a complaint with the airline to get his money back, but says he expects to have to wait about a month.
In the comments below, some people rushed to Douglas' defense and gave him advice, while others explained why such a policy might exist. One person wrote, "Contact your credit card provider online to 'revoke' with proof. The money will be credited to you within a few days."
Another added, "The fact is that passengers always 'forget' to return the pen. And the crew should have it in case the pilots give an emergency briefing at any time."
And the third one said, "Why don't you just travel with your own pen? If you travel a lot, you know you'll need a pen for your documents."
Earlier, TravelWise reported that passengers spent $6500 to change a flight from New Zealand .
