The Spanish city of Seville will delight visitors in April with the most sunshine and excellent weather. Therefore, residents of regions with wet winters, such as the UK, can head to this city for sun and warmth.

Seville is easily accessible from the UK. Vueling, easyJet, Ryanair, and British Airways operate flights from cities such as London, Manchester, and Birmingham. It is quite common to find round-trip tickets for £70," writes the Mirror website.

The Seville Fair is a week-long extravaganza that takes place after Easter every April and includes flamenco dancing, bullfighting, fireworks, and horse-drawn carriages parading through the city streets. "The sheer scale of the April fair is amazing," reports Andalucia.com.

Real de la Feria is where most of the fair takes place, covering 450,000 m2. It includes amusement parks and striped tents of various sizes in 24 blocks along 15 streets.

The tents and parties held in them are usually for private guests, so it's best to arrive a few days before the fair and make friends who can invite you. Otherwise, some festivities are open to the general public.

From about 13:30 until early the next morning, drinks are poured, and tapas are served, and each casa has a bar, kitchen, and sound system or live cevillanas. This is the official genre of folk music in Seville, which has its own choreographed dance.

The festival is not the only thing that might interest you during your weekend in the city. If you step out of the winding streets of the old town and across the river, you will see an area dotted with dilapidated buildings that seem to belong to an era we don't know.

"Between the headquarters of science and technology companies and the odd government building, rusty reminders of the expo create a poignant juxtaposition of old and new," writes the Atlas Obscurer about what remains of Expo '92. Organized 500 years after Columbus landed on the shores of the New World, the World's Fair in Seville was dedicated to the theme of the Age of Discovery. More than 100 countries took part in the event, which attracted more than 40 million visitors on 215 hectares.
