Drug cartel kidnaps 30 Georgian citizens in Mexico

A drug cartel in Mexico has taken 30 Georgian citizens hostage and has been holding them for several days.

According to the Mtawari Arch TV channel, up to 120 people, including 30 Georgian citizens, were kidnapped on the Mexican border. The kidnappers demanded a ransom of $90 thousand.

The militants are behaving extremely aggressively, beating the captives and threatening them with blades and firearms.

The captured Georgian citizens were trying to cross the border from Mexico to the United States.

Relatives of the abductees are asking for help. Neither the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs nor the Georgian Embassy in Mexico has released any information about the large-scale kidnapping.
