Wonderful lakes in the USA that didn't make it to the list of the most beautiful ones, but will surprise you
There are approximately 10,000 lakes in New England. According to the Homework Study website, there are three million lakes in the United States.
Despite being omitted from the list of the most beautiful lakes, some unique reservoirs are worth mentioning. Big Country decided to highlight a few of these lakes.
Interestingly, Maine's breathtaking Moosehead Lake, the second-largest in New England, was not included in the list. It is renowned for its beauty, featuring 80 islands surrounded by the Longfellow Mountains.
Similarly, the stunning Kezar Lake in Maine was overlooked. Nestled in the White Mountain National Forest, it is home to a variety of wildlife including foxes, moose, eagles, and deer.
Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire, the largest and most famous lake not only in New Hampshire but in the entire country, was also absent from the list. Situated at the foot of the White Mountains, it is truly an ideal vacation spot.
Lake Willoughby in Vermont, although not recognized among the most beautiful lakes, is described by the authors as a place straight out of a storybook, with majestic peaks and picturesque landscapes. Nestled between the Pisgah Mountains and Mount Gore, often referred to as the "American Lucerne," it is one of the cleanest and bluest lakes in New England.
